How to set up triple screens in GSC 2013

15 posts in this topic

It's strange I can't find any advice on how to get triples going. Is it that easy so no one is having problems with it? Yeah, I don't know how to do it anyway.

The other thing is my HE pedals don't get recognized.

Any help would be great - cheers.

Yep 3 devices only the same as rfactor. With help with running triples, i would assume it would be the same as rfactor so google "rfactor triple monitor setup" or head over to rfactor section see if there is anything to help you :)

CHEERS! :D

One things for sure - it's takes an age to download, install and get this sim all setup perfectly.  I think we are spoiled on how easy it is to get iRacing up and running.

Thirsty all the tips can be found in rFactor forums, you'll also find guidance on how to adjust the FOV so that it's correct.  The annoying thing is you have to edit the cam files for every car.

I spent hours getting it set up and then never bothered playing it because I am enjoying iRacing so much.

I think GSC2013 will be my week 13 title that I go to when iRacing goes crazy

1) Have nVidia Surround or ATI Eyefinity enabled (or SoftTH configured if you don't have matching screens)

2) Start GSC 2013 launcher... select the correct triple screen resolution (eg 5760x1080, or your bezel corrected resolution) and enable "MultiView" (ensures correct aspect ratio).

3) Load game and enjoy.  Configure preferred FOV in-game.

Thanks to everyone for the advice:-)

Yeah, my download took 45hrs or so including multiple failed downloads of pretty much each of the 4 files.

Luckily enough the installation went through no worries. Starting it up there's a window giving me the chance to do some basic video settings and I entered my bezel-corrected resolution.

The game is running on one screen anyway and I didn't find a way to make any changes to that within the game.

So it's just that launcher where you arrange that, isn't it?

Strangely enough it's just the brake pedal's input which is recognized atm. No idea how to calibrate it in game though. That means the calibration process is not working with me at this stage. Btw. the calibration in iracing went through completely hassle-free.

I'm not at home atm so I can't check unfortunately. I'll get onto it when back home and search the rfactor forums as well.

Thanks again.

Thanks mate.

Can you tell me how to start the GSC2013 launcher? I think that program came up when starting GSC for the 1st time. I've done my settings the way I thought was right, but I got no idea how to launch again. If it's a separate program I must have lost it, because it's not listed on my computer.

Are these FOV settings of 35 for example referring to just one screen even if you run triples?

Cheers

Yeah in the settings they display the FOV for a single screen.  I will admit their in game FOV settings are not perfect.  Their 35 setting (the lowest possible) still seems a bit off (too far back) in Formula Truck.  And the launcher will be found in the folder the game is installed (possible example: "c:\program files (x86)\GSC2013\").   Not sure of the exact file name.  Don't actually own GSC... but I have Formula Truck, which is pretty much identical.

I just installed GSC2013 as my 1st PC simRacing software.  Was an gt5 and gt6 player.

I got bit by the correct FOV bug this week and started paying more attention to what I was seeing

and have become irritated by the lack of game software correction of straight lines that run from the front

screen thought the bezel area and through the side monitors.  Example would be straight section of track side lines

that bend down when you head is higher than center.  Seems GSC does not correct for

this distortion that seems to be a function of the angle of the monitors to the front monitor

and you FOV setting and you head position.

Background:

My Horizontal FOV with my 27" diag monitor is about 60deg, or 3*60=180 for all 3 screens given a close 20" viewing distance.

Of course GSC allows vertical FOV in the Display option and with my close front screen distance of 20" , the vertical FOV for my 13.5" vertical

screen is 37 deg so I dont have to edit cam files (yet).

So I get my monitors all setup like the attached top view drawing and start driving and really find

my vision is bothered by the non straight sides of track lines that bend at the monitor intersections. See attachments

Notice I annotationed this lines and draw the good front view line in green, and after the bent at the bezel in the side screen in red.

I have not done bezel alighment yet, bezel compensation is not the issue that I need advice on.

Of course there is a head position (vertical height where you can compensate for this distortion)  Lower head position in this case was better.

Of course you can flatten the 3 monitors out  (increase the angle) and this reduces the distortion but then you dont get the nice large total FOV

180 deg.

Is there a setting to correct for this in GSC?   Do people just live with this or what?

Maybe rFactor and GSC just did not solve this.  Seems like they would have to have the user input more data about the rig especially the monitor to monitor angles and maybe head height or have a calibration setup step.

I assume others have solved this. (like iRacing which I have not tried yet).  Maybe videos I see on YouTube look like they give up total FOV and spread the monitor angles until the lines are straighter and give up the possible 180 emersion..

Thanks for any helpful comments.    Please ignore implement of my temp sim rig with folding tables, a workmate and duct tape.  My production rig arrives this week but Carriage Works wants me to spec the location for the monitors before they build monitor support hardware so I need adice on how to fix the distortion if possible.

After recently looking into this myself I have found that as GSC 2013 is based on rFactor it has limited triple screen support.

There is an option in the very first graphics config menu you get when installing GSC, this can be found again in your GSC program folder, that has a check box call multi view, tick this to allow GSC sim to deal with triple screens. Now there is no option to set the angle of the side screens and I believe its set at a fixed angle of 45 degrees which for me was about right as I run my side screens at 50 degrees.

Hope this helps mate.

Jason.

Thanks for the tip. given you comment I was able to find this statement if a forum on rFactor.

Config.ini file in your rFactor root directory and change the "SubViews=0" line to "SubViews=2".

Clearly the lines do not bend as much using 45 deg vs my desired 30 deg to get the 180 deg wrap around that a 20"

viewing distance.
