F1 2013 Change FOV

26 posts in this topic

Hi chaps, I really don't like the interior FOV for some of the cars. And was wondering if any of you know how to change the FOV. I found this one tutorial, but I didn't have the same files as that person had. If it helps, I'm using Windows 8.

I don't have 2013 but I do have 2012 so I guess the ability to change the cameras will be the same.

Look through the files for cameras.xml file for each car.  You'll find everything you need to in there to make the edits you need.

I played around with my settings and got it to look exactly like the one in that video, it still didn't help with the [email protected] FFB though :-)

Here's a post sometime ago that I shared my settings:

You need to get the camera files converted to an xml format to make the changes and then save them back into the game folder (while backing up your old files)

Here's the steps for f1 2010 which worked for me with 2012 although I used a windows app to convert the files and back again.  I can't remember the name of the app I used but I'll look it up later and will let you know.

The settings I shared I just tweaked them myself until I got something that worked. You have to do it for every car.

Check out the steps here: http://segmentnext.com/2010/09/26/how-to-tweak-fov-cockpit-view-in-f1-2010/

Here's a mod that might be easier too:  http://www.drivingitalia.net/forum/index.php?s=28ce28fff504be22ab2e99f1a896feff&app=downloads&showfile=5072  there's loads of these mods on the web, you should check out the codemasters forms as that will have a lot of info.

Edit:  I used BinXML to convert the files: http://ego-engine.wikispaces.com/BinXML

Such a pain that you need to do it for each and every car.  I haven't had a chance to use triple screens yet, but I see that the FOV autocorrects when using triple screens (little closer, and mirrors appear on outside monitors)

Nice, Codemasters really should make the process easier within the front end UI, it's pretty ridiculous really considering how many have requested for this feature.

There should be some keyboard shortcuts in my opinion... This is as you said horrendously hard...

i got the converter but i followed the instructions but i get up to where you type in cd into command  there is where it goes wrong i dont think im typing it write im not good at cmd prompt .

Why don't you just use BinXML frontend, the GUI is easier than using the command line prompts: http://ego-engine.wi...aces.com/BinXML

that number that you change  higher the number the farther away or closer i tried 25000

The higher the number, the further away it will be. 30 is right on the top of the wheel (well, a little behind), and 60 is very far away...

ok  BTW congrats on the pedals i guess im stuck with my CSPs for now  maybe someday

Thanks mate... It's actually strange and I almost feel bad, but I went from G27 pedals to DSD Pedals whereas some people go DFGT, G27, CSP, CSP V2, and so on... I just did a quick step-up. And well, I can't complain ;)
