Trusted & Approved Community Advice - Volunteers Needed

37 posts in this topic

Darin/Shaun perhaps that's a feature you could add on the forum whereby you allocate a profile title to "trusted and approved" forum members.  The title can then be manually or automatically added to their profile and then new users will know they can trust their advise.

Maybe I'm over thinking this since everyone gives such great advise on this forum, but it would be nice in some way to recognize those who contribute a lot to this forum and who make it what it is.  It would also be good to easily distinguish those forum profiles who are a representative/employed for a particular sim product/company or service.

"UNKLE" created the above topic in my Getting Started thread and I moved it here to look for volunteers. I think it's a great idea and I have the ability to tag your accounts as "Trusted and Approved" and also give you moderation privileges in some instances. Who would like to become a Trusted and Approved community advice member ?

We'll since I suggested the idea then I'd be willing to volunteer and help out in any way. I'm not sure if I qualify since I've only been sim racing properly for about a year now and there's many others here with a huge ammount of knowledge and experience, so I'll let you judge Darin if you think I'm worthy

I'd be willing to go for this, I don't know everything, not even close, but I do know some stuff, and that's the stuff I can help with when I can.

And besides, I can be trusted.... trust me! LOL :D

Take care

I think both of you guys would make great T & A Community members.. I like the letters used too T&A ..lol

Both of you are trusted and have enough knowledge in sim racing to be perfect candidates for the job. I'm sure you could ask for my advice or someone else if you're stuck.

I doubt I would be trustworthy or approvable!!  But I do know Jack!  That counts for something right??   ;)

Also I think the other part of Mark's suggestion has real merit as well...  Some sort of "Commercial" logo or summit underneath users who represent companies.  I know they are supposed to put their affiliation in their signature but a pretty logo would be a great differentiator.

Hi All,

Long time follower of ISR. So glad I found the site as it, and the loyal community, has continued to inform and inspire me over the years. Great idea turning to knowledgable members to weigh in with their expertise. Special shout out to CaTaPulT, as it's nice to have a fellow Canadian's perspective on sim racing.

Looking forward to following the thread.

Dave

Sounds good to have some guru's on the site. I think it would be a good i dear to state what your specialist area's of sim racing are, would make a it bit easy to solve a problem.

You could be the "go to guy" on that subject, think it will be good for the community & the site in general good luck guys. Myself only got onto PC sim's last year mainly with GTL so won't put expert in the title just yet !

Hi Pben.

I have to disagree with this. You would be surprised to what some people know and don't know, it's a matter of a particular question being asked and all of a sudden one realizes he knows the answer and replies.

Ever have a situation arise where somethig happens and you know what to do, even though this thing may happen once in a blue moon, then you kinda wonder... "how did I know this?" or "I can't beleive I knew this" so catagorizing people per set skill or knowledge can restrict answers given.

Some answers may not be the same depending on the question asked since so many people are doing the same thing but on different hardware and depending on a person's taste in driving or the feel they like, answers can be very different. In example, people using different wheels (G27, T500rs, CSW, etc) will get a different feel from their hardware and add to that the miriad of settings you can set to that hardware, the sky's the limit. About all we can do is try to steer new comers into the right direction for certain help subjects.

All we can do is try our best. :)

Take care

Hi, Jack

Agreed some people are all rounders and have used a many different types of set ups with lots of knowledge. But there are some that may have only used one particular brand of equipment or sim were they could specialize.

As I said before, it's good for the site which will increase traffic for Darin & Shaun good luck guys
