  1. I just completed my Thrustmaster F1 wheel mod using a SIMR-F1 display. This display is really close to the MacLaren PCU-6D display used in real F1 cars, except for the orange colored lateral displays. The SIMR-F1 is HUGE and barely fits the Thrustmaster F1 wheel, but in the end I'm really satisfied with the result: The wheel now has: * 1 SIMR-F1 display - 15 LED rpm display (5 green, 5 red, 5 blue) - 6 additional LEDs (pitlane, optimal shift point, overheat ...) - left display panel (rpm, water temp, oil temp, current lap, remaining laps, laps before pit ...) - center display dedicated to current gear - right display panel (best laptime, optimal laptime, delta to best, delta to opti ...) * 8 buttons - stock buttons connected to the display (k, n, pit, pump, pl, drs, +10, -1) * 5 up-down encoders - 2 stock encoder connected to the display (dif in, chrg) - 3 additional encoder (mix, grp, trq) * 3 12 position switches - left display panel variable selection (boost) - right display panel variable selection (rev) - Ferrari knob (MF) * 3 3 way switches - 3 stock 2 way switches are replaced (bo, start, wet) * 2 d-pads - both d-pads are connected together * 2 paddle shifters - stock paddle switches connected to the display On the SIMR-F1 the following inputs and outputs are used: - 30 digital inputs (buttons, encoders) out of 32 - 3 12 position switches out of 9 - 0 analog inputs out of 2 - 0 external LEDs out of 7 All the hardware, software, tools and steps involved to complete this mod are commented in the following post: http://www.isrtv.com/forums/topic/12982-thrustmaster-f1-wheel-mod-with-simr-f1-display-switches-and-encoders Here are some short videos with the wheel in action on iRacing: In race conditions:
  2. Hello fellow sim racers! Today I have decided to start a thread about a project I recently completed as I believe some Thrustmaster wheel owners may be interested. This is a button plate for the T500 wheel base that uses an Arduino board and sketch to emulate the original T500 GT rim. This means the button plate is recognized by the T500 base as the original rim, so console compatibility is maintained. There is also no need for an external USB as the Arduino is powered by the wheelbase. I was turned on to this project when I came across a blog/tutorial written by Taras from rr-m.org. Taras built a similar console compatible button plate using an Arduino board for the TX wheelbase. He has now also added a blog post for the T500 rim emulation since we where able to confirm that we in fact have a working sketch. Taras should be given full credit for all of the software, sketch writing and wiring diagrams for both the TX and T500 emulations. This was my first time using Arduino so his knowledge was definitely needed for my project to be a success. In his blogs (linked below) you will find all of the necessary information to perform this project yourself, including the Arduino Sketches and wiring diagrams. I have included some pics of my button plate project as well as the YouTube video I upload showing my button plate working on both PS3 and in the control panel. Hopefully Taras will be joining isrtv and posting here about his TX project as well. The button plate I have made now is a very simple and plain design using an Arduino Uno R3, once I replace the 350mm rim with a suede 320mm rim I will make a much nicer button plate using an Arduino Nano. I hope you guys enjoy and please feel free to ask any questions or post any comments you may have, I always like to get feedback Edit: The TX emulation sketch is now confirmed to function with the T300 base. This sketch can be found and downloaded from Taras' blog part 3 in the link below. 3. Hello, I am fishing for a TX Leather rim only with black buttons. I am not a big fan of the bright buttons and would prefer the rim with the black "xbox" buttons. I have contacted Thrustmaster a few months back and they will not sell the rim with black buttons or the buttons individually. If anyone has this rim in good condition and willing to let it go for a reasonable price, please contact me!! Alternatively - Does anyone know if there are simple button / switch boot replacements for this rim? Thanks for the help!!

  7. Hi there, my brother got a Thrustmaster TX 458 before this wheel he got the Formula T2 which he never got around to using since he never got the gameport to usb adapter for it. Now I would like to know if it's possible to DIY ourselves a handbrake and/or clutch using the T2's pedals, and how if it's possible. My DIY modding experience so far is, taking the TX pedals apart and adding springs they don't look much different from the T2's on the inside. So pretty much my plan so far was to get a gameport to USB, cut the T2's in half, mount 1 pedal next to or on the TX's and 1 near the steering wheel to use for a handbrake. I play my driving games on PC so I though it's as easy as it sounds but my brother likes to play Forza on the xbox so I was also wondering about if its the same for him? or I've just got it all completely wrong and need to be educated. plzhalp

WTB - My first set up

Looking to get my first sim set up for my xbox. Looking to keep it under $200 for wheel and pedals. Most interested in Thrustmaster TX, TMX, Logitech G920, or other set ups in similar range. I'd prefer to get a 3 pedal set up with a gear shift as well. Don't know if that is unreasonable tho considering my budget. I'm out of the North Central OH area so I'm willing to travel to anywhere near or around the Columbus or Cleveland area. Thanks for looking!

I am looking for the Thurstmaster TX with the C3PA pedals and a rim besides the plastic 458 style The Fanatec CSL Elite can have any rim and pedals but prefer the 3 pedal LC set Also if anyone has any advice for which one would be better for a newbie I'm open to suggestions. TX right endstop seems squishy

Hello, I'm new here but this seems like a great place to get help. I recently bought a TX and I was aware that it had a calibration problem with slamming into the right endstop, but thanks to this forum I was able to fix that problem, and because I saw the solution I was confident in buying it in the as is condition. I'm only having one other problem right now, as you can see in the video, the right endstop seems squishy, likes perhaps the person that did own this wheel let it hit off the side a few too many times, and perhaps there was a key there that creates the endstop, but the key has been broken? I'm going to have it apart in the upcoming week so I can make a handbrake mod, so then would be a good time to fix it. Thanks in advance! EDIT: If you're here because you're having problems with the auto-calibration(initial startup) and it's slamming into the right endstop repeatedly, or many other auto-calibrating issues, try this tool And here's the video of what my wheel is doing:

  22. I own a Thrustmaster TX and the power cable has been misplaced, not the USB cable but the actual AC power cord. Does the Thrustmaster website sell these to customers who contact them? I sent them an email a few days ago inquiring if I could purchase a standalone power cord from them and I haven't heard back from them yet. So I just wanted to know if they do actually make those available to people who need a replacement, otherwise I guess I'll have to purchase another TX base just to get a power cord which obviously I'd rather not do.
  23. Hello everyone! I'm looking to buy some sim gear to start my new set up. I'm looking for Thrustmaster TX equipment (need all of it: base, wheel, pedals) or Fanatec CSL equipment. I don't need any shifting add-ons, paddles will do fine. If you have any info or are selling anything reasonably priced let me know! Gino
  24. Hey, I'm new here and had a "great" idea awhile back and was wondering if it was possible. Instead of buying a $50 adapter to be able to use a real wheel and do whole bunch of weird wiring and having to drill hole for an e-brake (this is for an e-brake mod/paddle shifter delete/rally car wheel whatever on console) could you re-route the plug for the steering wheel out the back of the base and make a button box instead of having all of the buttons on the steering wheel?
