The alternative is a direct drive wheel like one of these. https://www.simracingbay.com/osw-assembled-direct-drive-kit-new/ or https://www.simracingcoach.com/en/contenido/kit-augury-osw/
Then you'd need to source a wheel with a button/paddle plate, and separate pedals.
This is a more complicated setup as you're buying parts from different vendors.
Okay, I understand. So the wheel and pedals is your 2000 budget. A direct drive wheel is superior. It's not something I would outwardly recommend for someone new to sim racing, but if you want to jump in at the top end then yeah, a direct drive wheel is huge step up over a belt a driven wheel.
Fanatec have this one coming soon: https://www.fanatec.com/eu-en/wheel-bases/podium-wheel-base-dd1-eu-1.html
That's 999 euro for the wheelbase without a wheel. Add the Fantec pedals (Clubsport V3) at 360 Euro. 300 for the BMW Rim. 250 for the F1 Rim. That's under 2000 total.
That will be a very good setup.
