Presenting our First Look at the Gigabyte GTX 1070 Windforce OC. After watching all the excitement over the new Pascal architecture graphics cards from Nvidia, John decided to pull the trigger and buy the most bargain version of the GTX 1070 he could find.
While it might be the bargain basement of the GTX 1070 family at $400 (at the time of the video), the Gigabyte Windforce OC does come packaged with higher clock speeds than the Founders Edition card. The 1556 and 1582 MHz base speeds in Gaming and OC Mode are at least 50 MHz ahead of the Founders Edition base speed of 1506 MHz, and the 1746 and 1771 MHz boost speeds in Gaming and OC mode are at least 63 MHz ahead of the Founders Edition’s boost speed of 1683 MHz.
Not that it matters, since the GTX 1070 has shown – in other YouTube reviews – that it overlcocks like crazy and 2000 MHz isn’t out of the question. But were we able to hit the magic number with some overclocking in MSI Afterburner and running the Assetto Corsa and DiRT Rally video benchmarks? Watch to find out!
And stay tuned to Inside Sim Racing for much more coverage of this card and how it performs in your favorite racing title. We are also keen to try out Nvidia’s new Simultaneous Multi-Projection technology that eliminates the stretching effect on triple monitors, ultrawide monitors and VR. The moment sim developers start supporting that technology, we’ll be on it.
