Codemasters has announced F1 2014, the sixth iteration in their Formula One series (and fifth on home consoles).
F1 2014 will cover the full 2014 Formula One season, including the massive rule changes. All of the cars and drivers will be recreated in the game (sadly, the Martini livery will not be available on the Williams, due to licensing issues and rating conflicts). The game will also feature an expanded Formula One experience, while trying to be as accessible to as many racing fans as possible.
The title will feature expanded gamepad support, as well as the ability to cater your difficulty to your skill level. The game will analyze your driving, and then suggest different difficulty settings for you. A “Very Easy” difficulty has been added as well, to help racing beginners dive into the title. Don’t think this game is going to be a chump in the physics department though. Codies expects even the veteran sim racers to be challenged by these new cars at the harder difficulties.
F1 2014 will be released October 21st in the US (17th in other reigons) for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Yep, it’s staying on the previous generation. However, I think that’s a good thing for now, because those systems boast more wheel support than the current gen.
For those looking to get your Next Gen Formula One fix, you’re in luck, because it’s coming, sooner rather than later! Codemasters has also announced an F1 title coming for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC, set for release Early 2015. This title will look to innovate in the racing season department, with digital updates rolling out as the season progresses, bringing true-to-life updates to the cars, so can race along with the real life season.
