Assetto Corsa – Console Version Porsche V2 & Red DLC Packs Available

After what must of seemed like an eternity for console players, yesterday, Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games were able to release the the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 console versions of their Porsche V2 & Red DLC packs for Assetto Corsa. Included in this release was  a new game update designated v1.11, which is meant to bring the PS4 and XBOX One versions into line with the original PC title in terms of updates and future DLC releases.

Both of the new DLC packs can now be purchased on their respective PlayStation and Microsoft Stores. If you own a season pass for either of the console versions, both packs can be downloaded at no extra cost. Just when the final Porsche DLC pack will be available has not been revealed by Kunos, should that change we will amend the article to include this new information.

Porsche DLC Pack Volume 2

The second DLC pack has something to make most Porshe fans very happy indeed! It is however a more racing car oriented pack this time around. I especially like the LeMans era cars, starting with the 80s Porsche 962c long and short tail versions, continuing on to the 911 GT1-98 from the 90s, culminating in the 2015 LeMas winning 919 Hybrid. I have driven these cars back to back, giving me an unique insight into the evolution of the Porsche LeMans series endurance racers.

The 962s are quite brutal turbo charged cars with a spartan feel to their handling and cockpits. The 911 GT1-98 is a big step up in refinement and a departure from the H-patterned 962c with its right hand operated sequential shifter. The 915 Hybrid is just a blindingly quick car and has you guessing where the front wheels are most of the time! The line of sight is obscured by the mountain-sized wheel guards on either side of your forward view. Honestly, I cannot imagine how they are able to drive this car in real life, sitting in the motion rig with VR, you can basically only see what is directly in front of you. The other cars in the pack are all extremely well modelled and convincingly impart the Porsche driving experience to a tee. Let us know in the comments what your thoughts are on Volume 2 and which car(s) you enjoy driving the most.

Red Pack DLC

The Red Pack has also been officially released on Steam! Now all console owners can get their hands on a garage full of Italian thoroughbreds!  505 Games and Kunos Simulazioni have done a very good job modelling these cars, as evidenced by the immense amount of attention to detail that has been lavished on these seven Italian beauties.

One of my personal favourites would have to be the Ferrari 488 GT3! This car looks like a proper piece of kit, mate! Which car(s) are you all most looking forward to driving in Assetto Corsa’s Red Pack? Let us know in the comments below!
