Back in June of 2015, Kunos Simulazioni revealed they were planning to release their very popular PC sim racing title to the console community. Although there have been several delays in its release – with the goal posts being moved more than once by Kunos – today the wait is over for all console players across Europe and the UK! Assetto Corsa is now available on PS4 & XBOX One! The North American console market will only have to wait a few more days before they get to take Assetto Corsa for a spin.
Since its early access release way back in the beginning of November 2013, Assetto Corsa has secured a large following of sim racing enthousiasts, couple that with constant updates and regular DLC packs, both free and paid, the game has become one of the go-to titles when it comes to PC sim racing!
John has already released a first look of the PS4 version, so in case you may have missed that video, here is the link to John’s post. Some of the console version features will include more than 100 highly detailed road-going cars, as well as pure-bred race cars! All of these shall have realistic handling and tyre physics, along with the option to customise their set-ups. The game has been worked on to provide players with AI opponents that possess refined race-craft!
Not including alternate layouts, there will be 24 laser-scanned circuits ranging from short circuits, such as Monza, up to the awesome 20,8 km Nordschleife! Gaming modes will include single races with customisable race weekends, together with preset challenges and a full-on career mode! Lastly, the multiplayer mode will allow up to sixteen players to race each other on the online servers.
Console players are not obliged to splash out for a wheel and pedal set in order to play Assetto Corsa. Kunos has worked very hard on refining the gamepad experience with the game. Although, racing with a FFB wheel and pedals is still the most immersive way to go sim racing. For those of you that may have missed the supported wheels list for the consoles, I will add the complete list to this post as well:
