I’ll admit it, I’m not the best at setups. Some weeks and seasons are better than others but since iRacing released the Season 2 2014 build, I’ve been lost.
Enter from stage left the iRacing Setup Sync. Developed by iRacer Nick Thissen, the application eliminates the tedious work of combing through the forums to find shared setups. Here’s an overview of it:
- Automatically download recent setups for your current car / track, as soon as you start iRacing. Similar to Trading Paints – except for setups!
- Search setups by car, track or team and download the ones you don’t have yet.
- Compares your local setups with the online database setups to determine which setups you already own – there is no point in downloading duplicates!
- Subscribe to cars, tracks and teams and quickly search setups that match any of your subscribed items.
- Completely customizable directory and setup naming convention with macros like the setup author, car, track, season and many more.
- Operates on a vast database of over 1,000 setups which is continuously updated by setups added to the various Setup Shops around the forums, and by user uploads.
- (Soon) Upload the setups you used in a recent session (if you want to share them) with the click of a button.
Setting up the application is pretty slick. Head to over to Nick’s website to create a Setup Sync account and download the application. The Setup Sync account links to your iRacing account via your member ID, similar to Trading Paints.
Once you’re all setup you can browse the application via cars, tracks, teams or groups and manually select which setups you would like to be downloaded. There is also an option to automatically download all the setups. Once in game, head to My Setups in the Garage and there will be a folder named Setup Sync. All the setups from the application will be neatly organized there by track. You can also adjust were the setups are saved in the application if you don’t want to have sub folders.
Since it’s release just under a month ago the application has undergone a number of improvements and bug fixes. It is currently at version 2.5 and Nick continues to work away on updates.
For all you iRacers who would rather be a driver then an engineer, iRacing Setup Sync is worth checking out.
sweat, now we need those setup gurus to actually upload any of them which I highly doubt.
Majority of the time the guys who post the setups are pretty decent. They’re not aliens but their setups are pretty quick.

Problem is then you have too many set ups and waste all your time trying those set ups and never get the right set up for you and your style… I just start from basic and try to K.I.S.S.

Do any of you guys know how to get the setups to automatically download? I installed the program but nothing is showing up in my iRacing garage like it said it would. Is there a setting in my account I need to adjust?
just go in ” my setup ” , folder setup sync and have fun 🙂
and sadly i remain confused…where is there a ‘my setup’ folder?

hmm. thanks, but i dont see anywhere on the website where theres an option to manage downloads as the second screen shows. i guess thats the program i downloaded but perhaps its not compatible with windows 8.1 because when i open it it logs me in but i don’t see anything.
