      ISRTV Amazon Store

      11/29/16

Hi All, We created an Amazon store that's pretty basic and currently only for U.S. shoppers. If you purchase something from it and then other items through Amazon, we make a small commission. It won't cost anymore than Amazon normally does but will help support our show and website and would be greatly appreciated ! You can get to it by going here : http://www.isrtv.com/isrtv-amazon-store/ Thank for your support !

    • My TH8RS from May finally sucumbed to its injuries it had with the DIN portion of the shifter...it had been disconnecting intermittingly at points, not always connected right away, etc. Finally, I removed the screw from the DIN and accidently twisted to the point where the connections finally came undone (I suspect there was 1 that had been disconnected quite awhile [I don't know whether to attribute to rig shakiness or whether it was faulty from the get-go]). Regardless, I should have contacted Warranty sooner than later (I can remember the issue being existent almost from the get-go) and have finally done so--suspecting the twisting of the DIN will probably void anything happening. Regardless, I've heard interactions with Thrustmaster support can last weeks to mos. as they are always busy with claims.    Anyways, I've taken quite a liking Rallycross on iRacing as well as having a shifter in general. I am just too stubborn to use a button or the clutch as a handbrake, so I am in search of a new TH8RS. I like the shifter tremendously and it is so satisfying shifting gears. Now that I have a Thrustmaster base this one shall be treated better as I won't always have to be unplugging it, etc. The Fanatec 1.5 (New) isn't in my price range but I am open to discounts on a used one. I have looked at SHH shifters but unfortunately unless someone can sway me big time the wait time for one is too unappealing (+ it's only about $30 less than a new TH8RS).   Responses and interest is appreciated.   Happy Holidays,   Brock
    • user CrashMagnet. Bought a Thrustmaster wheel and base from him (post here) and everything went as expected.
    • I found that my eyes were getting strained as well, and the solution for me was very simple. Loosen how tight the headset was, now I don’t notice any eye strain even on the longest sessions. With it too tight, it moves the screen and lenses closer to your eyes and the focal distance shortens which was the issue for me. second, the screens are high resolution but when you fill your entire FOV with it, it’s obviously going to have some screen door effect, I would suggest to press the menu button on the right controller and select change lense spacing, use this to find the perfect position, this helps with clarity if you didn’t already know about this. I also have a custom watercooled 1080Ti and I suggest using the performance debug HUD to find optimal settings, because if you’re using SuperSampling in racing games you either have the settings turned all the way down, or you are probably dropping frames. Personally I find higher settings are much more important than super sampling. It takes work to get the VR experience to be optimal, even with a 1080Ti you can’t drive games at high settings with super sampling, you need to find the optimal balance of all settings and positioning of the headset. Also I found over time you get used to the resolution and it becomes a non issue after a while. The immersion is the purpose of using VR, not perfect visual fidelity. And after getting adjusted to using it, it’s simply my personal favorite way to play.   Also look into upgrading your CPU if you’re able to, it would probably give you some more headroom with VR
    • I am in the planning stage of a new rig. I previously built a MDF rig rather quickly to get off a desk. It also helped to figure out the ergonomics. The new rig will be done in roll bar tubing fully notched and welded. I plan to have the seat stationary as that way seat adjustments wont have an effect on the FOV. The wheel and pedal mounts will be adjustable to suit different people. I will be going to a triple monitor setup. The rig will get powder coated.  I like when a new project comes around as it means new tools. I will pick up a tubing bender, tubing notcher and welder for this build. I hope to be able to do it in a modular design so it will be in 2 or 3 parts to transport to the room upstairs that I use for sim racing. The build will start mid March. If interested I can do a build diary and keep it posted here.
